We’re extremely proud to announce that Angling Direct has successfully floated on the London Stock Exchange!
On 13th July, we headed to London to mark Angling Direct’s admission to the London Stock Exchange Alternative Investment Market (AIM), swapping chairbeds and spools with champagne and smiles for the day.
The flotation is a big milestone for Angling Direct, as the company has grown from humble beginnings. In 1986, our Executive Chairman Martyn Page and his friend William Hill took over a fishing tackle shop in Wroxham, Norfolk as what was supposed to be a hobby - the pair, who’d worked together as business advisers, had decided to roll up their sleeves and put into practice what they preached.
Thirty years later, Angling Direct is the largest fishing tackle retailer in the UK with a countrywide network of 15 stores and a hugely-successful online shop offering over 40,000 products, spanning baits to bite alarms to bivvies and beyond, from leading brands.
While being listed on the AIM is huge moment for Angling Direct, we’d like to remind you that being serious about your fishing will remain our priority; we will continue to provide you with an unrivalled selection of fishing tackle, the best prices possible and first-class customer service.
The vast majority of the funding raised by the floatation will be reinvested in Angling Direct, enabling us to improve our website and everything else we do online, open more stores, expand into Europe and provide you with even better service.
We put a lot of emphasis on creating a culture that encourages anglers and safeguards the future of angling, and the floatation will enable us to invest more in supporting this fantastic sport. One of our goals is the get more young people into angling, which we’ve previously looked to do by donating tackle to the Fishing for Schools initiative, and we hope we’ll now be in a better position to achieve this goal.
Everything we do at Angling Direct is motivated by a desire to modernise the experience of shopping for fishing tackle and increase the enjoyment and success of anglers. It’s a very exciting time for us, and we’re really looking forward to the future and continuing our journey with you.
